DAILY GROWTH BOOK CHECK-IN

WHAT INSIGHTS DID YOU RECEIVE WHILE READING THE DAILY GROWTH BOOK THIS WEEK?

RECEIVING THE GOODNESS OF GOD

INTRO: Out of all of creation, you are considered by God to be His best work. He calls us His masterpiece. God takes care of His masterpiece. He doesn’t withhold good from us, and He doesn’t mislead us. Everything God does in our lives is for our good, and to bring Him glory! Today, we will learn about His goodness towards us and how we must respond to this GOOD LIFE  that He promises His children!

Ephesians 2:10 NLT For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

I. YOU ARE GOD’S TREASURE

*Someone please read the scriptures below

James 1:18 NLT He chose to give birth to us by giving us his true word. And we, out of all  creation, became his prized possession.

Jeremiah 51:19 NLT  He is the Creator of everything that exists, including his people, his  own special possession. The LORD of Heaven’s Armies is his name!

1 Peter 2:9 NIRV But God chose you to be his people. You are royal priests. You are a holy  nation. You are God’s special treasure. You are all these things so that you can give him  praise. God brought you out of darkness into his wonderful light.

Deuteronomy 7:6 NLT For you are a holy people, who belong to the Lord your God. Of all  the people on earth, the Lord your God has chosen you to be his own special treasure.

DISCUSSION – WHAT IS GOD REVEALING TO YOU IN THE ABOVE SCRIPTURES?

INSIGHT:

  • WE are God’s special possession, His abundance and His masterpiece.
  • We are of such value to God that He sacrificed so much for our purchase.
  • What will He withhold from us? What will He keep from making sure His special possession is blessed beyond measure.
  • How can He withhold anything from His prized possession.
  • We see this over and over in scripture:

II. YOU ARE PRECIOUS TO GOD!

*Someone please read the scripture below

Daniel 10:19 NLT “Don’t be afraid,” he said, “for you are very precious to God. Peace!  Be encouraged! Be strong!” As he spoke these words to me, I suddenly felt stronger  and said to him, “Please speak to me, my lord, for you have strengthened me.”

INSIGHT:

  • Knowing and understanding this will bring you PEACE and STRENGTH!
  • Say this: “I AM A SPECIAL TREASURE AND PRECIOUS TO GOD!”

III. JESUS IS OUR TREASURE

The ultimate inheritance in our lives (more than money, status, fame) is CHRIST Himself!

*Someone please read the scripture below

Lamentations 3:24 NLT I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance; therefore, I will hope in him!”

Lamentations 3:24 NIRV I say to myself, “The Lord is everything I will ever need. So I will put my hope in him.”

DISCUSSION – WHAT STANDS OUT TO YOU IN THE ABOVE SCRIPTURE?

INSIGHT:

  • The sooner we realize that Christ is not a means to an end, but the beginning and the end in our lives, the sooner we can walk in the abundant life
  • The Lord is our inheritance. He is everything we need and more.
  • Nothing matters more than Jesus!

*Someone please read the scripture below

Philippians 3:7-8 NLT I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ

INSIGHT:

  • Our own efforts and achievements are worthless when compared to the value of knowing Jesus!
  • True abundance comes when we come to know and live for Jesus!

IV. WHERE IS YOUR HEART?

*Someone please read the scripture below

Matthew 6:21 NKJV For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.

Matthew 6:21 NIRV Your heart will be where your riches are

DISCUSSION – WHERE WOULD YOU SAY YOU INVEST MOST OF YOUR TIME AND ATTENTION RIGHT NOW?

INSIGHT:

  • Treasure can be more than just money, it is whatever you value most.
  • Many preachers preach this backwards: wherever your heart is, your treasure will follow. But this is not what the scripture is saying. The scripture says “Your heart follows where you place your treasure.”
  • Sometimes our desires are in the wrong place because we’re giving our best to other things. These things could be your jobs, your friendships, your earnings, your accomplishments It could even be unhealthy habits, desires, people, but God is saying, place what you value in my hands!
  • If you want to make God your highest priority, or your greatest focus, then place what you value in HIS hands! (Your time, resources, etc)

V. DON’T WITHHOLD FROM GOD

*Someone please read the scripture below

Matthew 16:25 NLT If you try to hang on to your life, you will lose it. But if you give up your life  for my sake, you will save it.

DISCUSSION – BASED ON THIS SCRIPTURE, HOW DO WE SAVE OUR LIFE?

INSIGHT:

  • The fastest way to lose something is to withhold it from God, but when you give it up to God, you will find it
  • Lose (apollymi): to destroy, kill, cause to lose
  • Find (heurisko): to obtain, to enjoy, to recover
  • If we cherish something, the wisest thing for us to do is to hand it over to God.
  • If we value our lives, our resources, our family, our time, and our finances, we must learn to surrender these things to God.

VI. GOD WON’T WITHHOLD FROM YOU

A. DEPEND ON GOD

*Someone please read the scripture below

Lamentations 3:25 NLT The Lord is good to those who depend on Him.

INSIGHT:

  • Depend (qawa): to hope in, to trust in, to wait patiently for, to expect
  • Receiving goodness from God is not a hard thing to come by all we must do is depend on Him
  • Depending on God brings forth goodness from God
  • It is inevitable that we will experience God’s goodness when we depend on Him.
  • God will NOT let His dependents down!!

B. DO WHAT’S RIGHT

*Someone please read the scripture below

Psalms 84:11 NLT For the Lord God is our sun and our shield. He gives us grace and glory. The Lord will withhold no good thing from those who do what is right.

DISCUSSION – WHEN WE DO WHAT IS RIGHT, WHAT CAN WE EXPECT FROM GOD?

INSIGHT:

  • Good (tob): good, pleasing, desirable, best, prosperous, generous, joyful, profitable, wealth
  • God always delivers His best to those who do the right thing.
  • ON DECEMBER 10TH, let’s bring an offering to God with expectation. And in your envelope there is a place to write down your prayer request.
  • A seed spent brings addition, but a seed planted brings multiplication.

C. GOD DIDN’T WITHHOLD HIS BEST FROM YOU

*Someone please read the scripture below

Romans 5:8 NLT But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we  were still sinners.

INSIGHT:

  • God didn’t withhold his son from us when we were doing evil.
  • What makes us think He would withhold good things from us when we do what’s right?

DISCUSSION – WHAT IS ONE THING THAT YOU LEARNED FROM TODAY’S LESSON THAT YOU WILL APPLY THIS WEEK?

GIVING

Matthew 2:11B (NLT) …They entered the house and saw the child with his mother, Mary, and they bowed down and worshiped him. Then they opened their treasure chests and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
