Matthew 5:14-16ESV “You are the light of the world. A city set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do people light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a stand, and it gives light to all in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven.

A. WE ARE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD. (Without light this world remains in the dark.)

> Light: truth and its knowledge, that which is exposed to the view of all, openly, publicly, the power of understanding esp. moral and spiritual truth.
Note: We are here to shine our light on earth. Shine our light by our lifestyle, testimony, love and preaching and teaching of Gods word.

B. SHINING LIGHT IS OUR PURPOSE.

(We are like a city on a hill. We are supposed to stand out in this dark world. We are not supposed to blend in. Our lifestyles, values, morals, conversations, beliefs, attitudes and love should be totally in line with the kingdom of heaven and as a result causes those who are watching us to be challenged and believe in Jesus. The World will only see Jesus in us.)

C. WE SHINE THE LIGHT OF JESUS BY OUR GOOD WORKS.

(We shine light by Doing the works of Jesus.)

Matthew 5:16 NLT In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.

D. WHEN PEOPLE SEE OUR GOOD WORKS THEY WILL GLORIFY GOD.
(They will say Praise God!! Now I believe God exists because of the love and good works I have seen in your life. No one will ever believe in Jesus if they don’t see Jesus in us.)

LEADERSHIP PRINCIPLE- LEAD BY EXAMPLE. (We should live lifestyles that are above average. Lifestyles people would want to follow. The greatest way to gain influence is by living our values out.)

Matthew 6:22-23 NLT “Your eye is like a lamp that provides light for your body. When your eye is healthy, your whole body is filled with light.23But when your eye is unhealthy, your whole body is filled with darkness. And if the light you think you have is actually darkness, how deep that darkness is!
