Question: Here is a question for the group. When we allow fear into our lives, what does it do?

This is why it is so important that we as a church must preach healing and faith while the world is preaching fear.

Right now, we need to be extra cautious about what we’re feeding our minds. We need to turn off the T.V, pray, trust God and yes wash your hands.

REJECT FEAR AND TRUST GOD.

The Webster definition for the word Fear is: a distressing emotion aroused by impending danger, evil, pain, apprehension, anticipation of adversity or misfortune; acceptance of or receptivity to information without passing judgment on its validity, often without complete comprehension.

In other words, fear is receiving information with no filter.

Question: When we are receiving information, what should we filter it through?

Fear always highlights the problem, and tries to hide the solution. That is why we need a filter, because God always has a plan and a solution to every problem. Fear does not have control over those who have faith in God!

Question: Why do we need to reject fear? (let the group answer)

Those are great answers.

Here are 3 reasons we must reject fear:

  1. WE REJECT FEAR BECAUSE GOD COMMANDS US TO REJECT IT.

Isaiah 41:10 (AMP) ‘Do not fear [anything], for I am with you; Do not be afraid, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, be assured I will help you; I will certainly take hold of you with My righteous right hand [a hand of justice, of power, of victory, of salvation]

Note: number one call 911. My neighbor is coughing.

  1. WE REJECT FEAR BECAUSE IT DOESN’T COME FROM GOD.

Take a look at this powerful scripture!

Would someone like to read 2 Timothy 1:7?

2 Timothy 1:7 NKJV For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

The word Fear in the Greek definition is “Delia,” which means: one lacking courage, bravery especially when facing danger, difficulty, opposition, pain, easily overwhelmed and intimidated.

Fear will take out the fight in us and stop us from taking action. It is a demonic mindset from the enemy that will try and cause us to be scared of the fight.

Question: Why is a fight/trial something to get excited about?

It is in the middle of your fight and your trial that God shows up with His power!

The word Power in the Greek is (dynamis) which means: strength, power to perform miracles, moral power. God has given us His power to perform miracles, to see the sick healed, and to overcome any fight!

The word Love in the Greek is (agape) which means: affection, benevolence, desire to do good to others.

Question: During this season, what are some good things that we can do for others?

Sound mind means: good judgment, right thinking, self-control.

Question: Why does God need to give us self-control?

When we are not operating under self control, we are operating under some other control:

– Fear control

– Anxiety control

– Depression control – Anger control

  1. WE REJECT FEAR SO THAT WE CAN TAKE A HOLD OF FAITH.

We can’t have a thought of fear and faith at the same time, either we grab onto fear and let go of faith or let go of fear and get a hold of faith.

John 14:1 (AMP) 14 “Do not let your heart be troubled (afraid, cowardly). Believe [confidently] in God and trust in Him, [have faith, hold on to it, rely on it, keep going and] believe also in Me.

Question: When fear comes, what are we supposed to do?

We must have discernment when identifying a thought of fear. It has been said that “discernment isn’t knowing the difference between right and wrong, but knowing the difference between right and almost right.”

We must identify any thought that is laced with fear, and reject it!

OFFERING – March 2020

Right now, we as a church are going to be a major food bank in our city during this troubling time! The coronavirus has put many families out of jobs. Not only that, but with our schools shut down, some students will be without their only meal of the day. The city needs us right now. Let’s remember that we are the church, and God will supply our needs as we meet the needs of others.
