IF YOU DON’T WORK, YOU DON’T EAT

TODAY’S PASSAGE:

2 Thessalonians 3:10-13 (NLT) – 10 Even while we were with you, we gave you this command: “Those unwilling to work will not get to eat.” 11 Yet we hear that some of you are living idle lives, refusing to work and meddling in other people’s business. 12 We command such people and urge them in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ to settle down and work to earn their own living. 13 As for the rest of you, dear brothers and sisters, never get tired of doing good.

  • If you want to see your life improve, you must be willing to put in the effort to change it.
  • Hard work, not laziness, will lead to a great inheritance and the ability to lay hold of what God has promised.

Hebrews 6:12 (NIV) – We do not want you to become lazy, but to imitate those who through faith and patience inherit what has been promised.

  • One of the traps of an idle life is gossip and interfering with other people’s business.
  • If you have time to compare, gossip or criticize, it’s a sure sign that you are not focusing on what God wants to be your priority.
  • It’s important to stay focused on God’s business, the business of preaching the Gospel and saving souls.
  • Jesus Himself made sure that He kept His focus on His Father’s business.

Luke 2:49 (NKJV) – And He said to them, “… I must be about My Father’s business”

Galatians 6:9 (NLT) – So let’s not get tired of doing what is good. At just the right time we will reap a harvest of blessing if we don’t give up.

  • If you will stay focused on the work God wants you to do, nothing can stop your growth or the blessings God has in store for you!
  • More than that, when we choose to never give up, God promises He will give us the the power we need to do His will.
