COMMAND # 9 PART 2 - FOLLOW ME AS I FOLLOW CHRIST

  1. Let’s review our group numbers: Did anyone recruit someone new to their power of 12? or to one of your disciple’s 12?
(take note of these changes in the app.)

1 MONTH GOAL

  1. PREPARE ALL MEMBERS OF OUR POWER OF 12 TO ATTEND MONTHLY RALLY.

  2. RECRUIT DISCIPLES. (Goal: Complete the level of leadership we are on. People need to be discipled.)

Note: If we don’t have 12, there are 12 that God has for us to take care of and disciple,

we just need to pray and search for them.)

  3. BUILD RELATIONSHIPS WITH OUR DISCIPLES.

Let’s begin with some questions.

Question: What does it mean to be a disciple?

Question: What do you think the goal of every disciple is?

Simple definition of the word Disciple: learner, student, one who follows or obeys the teachings of a leader/teacher.

Question: Since we consider ourselves to be disciples, what is something you learned from the teaching last week?

If you’d lke to follow along ont he teaching, you can access from the Power of 12 banner in the church app.

The teaching today will focus on…

HOW TO BUILD INFLUENCE WITH OUR PEOPLE

*Note: It’s Time to build our leadership influence. Remember leadership is all about being able to build enough trust and love equity that will cause them to follow our lead. We have 30 days to invest, love, build and serve our people. This will result in them willingly and gratefully following us to our weekly and monthly meetings. Until they are following and showing up, we are still not truly leading. If we don’t have enough influence for them to follow us to a meeting, we won’t have enough influence to lead them to their full potential and purpose.)

Proverbs 14:28 (MSG) The mark of a good leader is loyal followers; leadership is nothing without a following.

1.WE BUILD INFLUENCE BY BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS. (The better we know them and they know us the greater influence we will have.)

John 10:26-28 (AMP) 26 But you do not believe Me [so YOU DO NOT TRUST AND FOLLOW ME] because you are not My sheep. 27 The sheep that are My own hear My voice and listen to Me; I KNOW THEM, AND THEY FOLLOW ME. 28 And I give them eternal life, and they will never, ever [by any means] perish; and NO ONE WILL EVER SNATCH THEM OUT OF MY HAND.

Defintion of the word Know: (ginōskō/gē-nō’-skō) to understand, to become acquainted with, to learn, to know, to feel, come to know, get a knowledge of perceive, to know, be aware (of).

Here is a great Quote: “Discipleship is the highest form of relationship.”

  • Really getting to know our 12 is important because it sets the DNA for the organization.

  • Healthy relationships must be the foundation of our power of 12 groups. The truth is the organization is going to get to know us through our disciples, not necessarily through our face to face interactions with them.

A. A GREAT WAY TO GET TO KNOW SOMEONE IS THROUGH ONE ON ONE MEETINGS. (The goal of this one on one time is to make sure they know how much you love them and hearing the desires and struggles of their hearts. This one on one meeting is a time of intimate mentoring where we can discover and address areas that might be hindering spiritual growth. It is a time for them to ask questions and get biblical answers. It is a time of hearing their heart. It is a time of setting goals and coming up with a plan of action. It is a time of accountability. It is a time of celebrating them. It is time if encouragment. It is a time of deliverance and inner healing. It is a time of sharing and discussing scripture. It is a time of personal prayer. It is a time of training and setting an example. It is a time washing their feet or another way to say it is humbly serving them. It is a time of discovering their greatest need and meeting it. It is a time of speaking life into them. It is a time making friends. It is a time of laughter. It is time of including them in our personal lives.)

John 21:15-17 (NLT) 15 After breakfast Jesus asked Simon Peter, “Simon son of John, do you love me more than these?” “Yes, Lord,” Peter replied, “you know I love you.” “Then feed my lambs,”Jesus told him. 16Jesus repeated the question:“Simon son of John, do you love me?” “Yes, Lord,” Peter said, “you know I love you.” “Then take care of my sheep,”Jesus said

2. WE BUILD INFLUENCE THROUGH OUR LOVE ! (They must know beyond a shadow of a doubt that we are for them, love them and have the best interest for them. Unless they know that, they won’t fully follow.)

John 15:12 (NLT) This is my commandment: Love each other in the same way I have loved you.

Definition of the word Love: (agapaō/ä-gä-pä’-ō) to welcome, to entertain (to be a host), to be fond of, to love dearly, to be well pleased (accepting).

Here are a couple great Quotes to remember:

“They don’t care how much we know until they know how much we care. “

“Show interest in others, and they will show interest in you.”

A. A GREAT WAY TO SHOW OUR LOVE IS THROUGH OUR WELCOME AND GREETING. (They should feel loved, accepted and celebrated. They should know beyond a shadow of a doubt that we are so happy that they are part of our lives and team. Never should they feel neglected or unimportant in our presence. It’s an attitude of being prepared to welcome and entertain them as our beloved guest of honor.)

B GOD’S LOVE IS NOT SELF SERVING BUT SELF SACRIFICING.

John 15:13 (NLT) There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.

Definition of the phrase Lay down: (tithēmi/tē’-thā-mē) lay aside, kneel down, commit to give,to serve something to eat or drink, Lay aside money.

  • Laying down our lives is another way of saying your needs above mine.

  • It is saying, “I will lay aside anything. I need to show you how much I love you.”

  • The level of sacrifice that we make for those we are leading reveals the depth of love we have for them. Jesus is our example, He laid down His life to meet our greatest need of salvation.

Question: What are some of the ways for us to practice self-sacrifice as a leader for our people?

Here are some Practical Ways to practice laying down our lives:

  • being there in there time if need,

  • counciling,

  • training them to succeed,

C. LOVING PEOPLE IS SERVING PEOPLE. (We serve them by discovering their greatest needs and do all you can to meet them. We serve them by helping overcome their obstacles to success. A self serving leader discovers his own greatest need and uses the people to serve him.)

Mark 10:43-45 (NLT) 43 But among you it will be different. Whoever wants to be a leader among you must be your servant, 44 and whoever wants to be first among you must be the slave of everyone else. 45 For even the Son of Man came not to be served but to serve others and to give his life as a ransom for many.”

Definiton of the word Servant: (dē-ä’-ko-nos) to give service, care, or aid; attend, as to wants or necessities. A minister, one who cares for the poor. A waiter (a Christian teacher and pastor.)

Question: What are some practical ways we can serve our people?
