RESETTING VISION AND GOALS

IMPORTANT DEFINITIONS

  • Reset: to set again, to put back into proper order, priority and position. To recommit to, to readjust in order to get desired results, regenerate (recreate, revive, restore to a favorable state, to be born again Spiritually.)
  • Vision: mental picture (the ability to see in your mind the way things ought to be), dream (an aspiration-a desire or objective strongly desired), Revelation (this when we get a spiritual down load from the Holy Spirit of God’s desired future for our lives.)
  • Note: We need to pray that God will give us vision and reveal what aspirations and dreams we should have and pursue and show us how to achieve it.
  • Perfect Picture: is when we know how it ought to be and know how to achieve it.

4 TRUTHS ABOUT VISION

TRUTH #1 - WITHOUT A CLEAR AND COMPELLING VISION WE CAN NOT BE AN EFFECTIVE LEADER.(Vision is what causes a leader to rise up to the top. Vision is what separates mediocre leaders from great ones.)

A. THE PEOPLE COULD ONLY SEE BURNED DOWN WALLS BUT NEHEMIAH THE LEADER SAW NEW WALLS.

Nehemiah 2:17 (NKJV) 17 Then I said to them, “You see the distress that we are in, how Jerusalem lies waste, and its gates are burned with fire. Come and let us build the wall of Jerusalem, that we may no longer be a reproach.”

B. VISIONARY LEADERS SEE AND SPEAK BEYOND HOW THINGS ARE. (This is a Godly attribute.)

Romans 4:17 (ESV) 17 as it is written, “I have made you the father of many nations”—in the presence of the God in whom he believed, who gives life to the dead and calls into existence the things that do not exist. (“calls those things which are not, as though they were. -NMB)

TRUTH #2- A LEADER WITHOUT A VISION WILL PERISH.

Proverbs 29:18 (BRG) Where there is no vision, the people perish: …

  • Perish (Para) go backwards, are barren, are zeros, become naked.
  • Note: Without a mental picture, aim and clear picture on how things ought to be we will go backwards, amount to nothing, be embarrassed.
  • Quote: “Show me a man who is perfectly satisfied and I’ll show you a failure.” (Thomas Edison)
  • Quote: “ Show me a church and business that is going backward and I’ll show you a leader with no vision.”
TRUTH #3- WHAT WE CAN CONCEIVE AND BELIEVE WE CAN ACHIEVE.(This is not just a bunch of positive mumbo jumbo it is bible.)

Mark 9:23 (CSB) Jesus said to him, “‘If you can’? Everything is possible for the one who believes.”

A. IF WE BELIEVE WE WILL RECEIVE.

Matthew 21:22 (TLB) You can get anything—anything you ask for in prayer—if you believe.”

TRUTH #4- WE WILL BE A WE CAN VISIONARY LEADER OR WE CAN’T VISIONARY LEADER.

Numbers 13:30-31 (NLT) 30 But Caleb tried to quiet the people as they stood before Moses. “Let’s go at once to take the land,” he said. “We can certainly conquer it!” 31 But the other men who had explored the land with him disagreed.

  • “We can’t go up against them! They are stronger than we are!”

A. THE PEOPLE WILL TAKE ON OUR MINDSET (Good or bad. The I can see vision come to pas, the I can’ts will also see their vision come to pass.)

Numbers 13:32 (NLT) 32 So they spread this bad report about the land among the Israelites: “The land we traveled through and explored will devour anyone who goes to live there. All the people we saw were huge.14:1-2 Then the whole community began weeping aloud, and they cried all night. 2 Their voices rose in a great chorus of protest against Moses and Aaron. “If only we had died in Egypt, or even here in the wilderness!” they complained.… 31 “‘You said your children would be carried off as plunder. Well, I will bring them safely into the land, and they will enjoy what you have despised. 32 But as for you, you will drop dead in this wilderness.

SAYINGS OF THOSE WHO HAD NO VISION

  • Quote: “Everything that can be invented has been invented.” (Charles H Duel-commissioner of the U.S patent office 1899)
  • Quote: “Flying machines heavier than air.” (Lord Kelvin)
  • Illustration: When Walt Disney was alive he had a vision of Disney World. But he died before it became a reality. At the Grand opening his surviving wife was an honored guest on the platform. The M.C said to her I just wish Walt could have seen it. She replied two words: “He did”. He was the first man to ever see Disney World before anyone lifted a finger.

OUR GOAL

  • 1728 D.G’s
  • 500 New Volunteers for Easter.
  • Every leader set a 90 day goal to launch a D.G. And do a reset meeting with their leaders.
ILLUSTRATION
  • Tom Brady, who most people have heard of and recognize as the GOAT of Football.
  • Tom Brady’s name will always be connected with football greatness. He’s done what most players don’t ever come close to, seven Super Bowl wins, five Super Bowl MVPs, and a crazy number of passing records.
  • Passing Yards: 89,214 yards – The most in NFL history.
  • Passing Touchdowns: 649 – The highest number of career touchdown passes in league history.
  • Pass Completions: 7,753 – The most completed passes in NFL history.
  • Games Played: 335 – The most games played by a quarterback.
  • Regular Season Wins: 251 – The most regular-season victories for any quarterback.
  • Playoff Wins: 35 – The most playoff victories, surpassing the total wins of 27 NFL franchises.
  • His career stands as the greatest in NFL history. But as we see his success, it’s important to remember that Tom Brady’s achievements wouldn’t have been possible without the front line
  • Tom Brady’s offensive line played a pivotal role in his success.
  • The front line is key to pushing the ball forward. Most people have heard of Tom Brady as the NFL “GOAT”, but there was a front line of “GOATS” you may not have heard of. Without this front line, there is no Tom Brady.
  • Matt Light (Left Tackle, 2001-2011): He protected Brady’s blind side, a critical responsibility that gave Brady the time and safety to make history. 3 TIME Pro Bowler and 3 Super Bowl wins.
  • Logan Mankins (Guard, 2005-2013): The heart of the offensive line, Mankins provided unmatched toughness and consistency. 6-time Pro Bowler, with 3 Super Bowl wins. He helped anchor the line, enabling Brady to lead the team to victory season after season.
  • Dan Koppen (Center, 2003-2011): As the center, Koppen’s role in making critical line adjustments was crucial. He started 120 games, providing stability and intelligence to the offensive line that allowed Brady to focus on his craft. Prow bowler with 3 superbowl wins.
  • Sebastian Vollmer (Right Tackle, 2009-2016): Vollmer’s protection on the right side was key to keeping Brady upright and able to execute plays. A pro bowler who, started 80 games and was instrumental in two Super Bowl wins.
  • Joe Thuney (Guard, 2016-2020): Known for his versatility, Thuney played in three Super Bowls with the Patriots, winning two, and continued his success with the Kansas City Chiefs. His durability and skill allowed Brady to excel in both the regular season and the postseason.
  • While Tom Brady’s individual accomplishments are amazing, his success on the field was built on the foundation of a strong, dedicated front line. It’s the collective effort of the team that drives the success.
  • “I’m just lucky to have such great guys up front. They do all the dirty work, and I’m just the guy who gets to throw the ball. Without them, none of this would be possible.” – Tom Brady
#5. THE SUCCESS OF THE FRONT LINE RELIES ON THEIR FAITHFULNESS TO THE INSTRUCTIONS
  • A successful front line follows orders, knows the goals, sticks to the plays, and doesn’t deviate.

Joshua 6:2-5 (NLT) “But the Lord said to Joshua, ‘I have given you Jericho, its king, and all its strong warriors. You and your fighting men should march around the town once a day for six days… On the seventh day, you must march around the town seven times, with the priests blowing the horns. When you hear the priests give one long blast on the rams’ horns, have all the people shout as loud as they can. Then the walls of the town will collapse, and the people can charge straight into the town.’”

A. They Followed Orders Exactly

  • God gave specific instructions, and Joshua ensured that his army didn’t deviate.
  • They didn’t attack early, they didn’t break formation, and they didn’t question the strategy.

B. They Knew the Goal and Stayed Committed

  • Their mission wasn’t just to fight but to trust God’s plan for victory.
  • Even when marching for six days seemed pointless, they stayed disciplined.

C. They Stuck to the Play

  • The soldiers didn’t try to use their own battle strategies.
  • If they had acted outside of God’s plan, they would have failed.

D. They Won Through Obedience, Not Just Strength

  • Their success came because they followed God’s plan together.
  • When they shouted on cue, the walls fell, and they took the city!

1 Corinthians 14:40 (NLT) – “But be sure that everything is done properly and in order.”

  • God values structure, obedience, and order for success.

A Successful Front Line Wins Through Discipline & Obedience

  • A front line that follows orders, knows the goal, and sticks to the plan will succeed, whether in battle, leadership, ministry, or life. Joshua’s army won not because of their own power, but because they followed the exact instructions given by God.
  • We’re 528 DG leaders away from accomplishing the assignment at hand of 1,728 Discipleship Group Leaders!
